Two independent previews confirm the goal. Xbox Wire's session was set in an industrial section where the task was to find and activate three power cores to bring a reactor back online. TechRaptor described the same thing: in the reactor, you activate three power cores that are spread out from one another.

It is one of the first big objectives players will face, which is why it is one of the most searched topics for the game.

Where are the power cores?

The exact locations of the three cores have not been published. They are spread across the reactor area, which covers multiple floors. Because the press build may differ from the final game, we will not list demo positions as final.

What the reactor area is like

Xbox Wire described cold metal tunnels and walkways lit by low blue light, with fungal-like growths and puddles of unknown liquid. The developers describe the facility as man-made metal, concrete, machinery and pipes, like a factory. Ladders, stairs and elevators connect the floors.

Obstacles to expect

Previewers exploring the same demo found routes gated by tools. Expect some of these on the way to the cores:

• A ladder that can't be pulled down without the right tool.
• A flooded pool blocking a lower section until the water is drained.
• Weak walls that need explosives.
• Doors that need a specific keycard.

Scan each obstacle so it appears on your map with what it needs. When you find the right tool or key, the map shows where to return.

How to approach the search

1. Rest at the nearest save pod before setting out.
2. Scan every door, ladder and wall as you explore the reactor floors.
3. Take the routes that are open now; tag the rest.
4. Return to a save pod between cores to refill healing, remembering enemies respawn.
5. Check the map after every new keycard or tool.

Staying alive in the reactor

Combat in this area happens in tight corridors and small rooms. Keep your pulse pistol charged on approach, save shotgun shells for tougher enemies, and use flares to pull creatures away. Resting at a save pod refills your limited healing.

The demo that featured the reactor ended with a boss encounter against a centipede-like creature, according to GamingTrend. Whether it guards a core in the final game is not known. See the boss guide.

Before searching for the cores, stop at a workbench. Fragments buy shotgun shells, flares and grenades, which are the tools previewers leaned on in the reactor's tight spaces. If you can afford a pulse pistol upgrade, it pays off in every fight.
