End of Abyss launches on October 1, 2026, a Thursday. The date is listed on the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store and the developer's official website. It was also confirmed in the publisher press release reported by Gematsu and by Insider Gaming.
All three platforms release on the same day: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Epic Games Store. There is no staggered launch and no timed console exclusivity. Pre-orders are open now on all three stores.

How the date was announced
End of Abyss was revealed at Summer Game Fest in June 2025 as Section 9 Interactive's debut, with a 2026 release window. Game Informer covered the reveal, and the PlayStation channel's reveal trailer became the most-watched video for the game on an official platform channel.
The exact date arrived a year later, at Summer Game Fest in June 2026, with an official release date trailer. The trailer was published on the official End of Abyss channel and also uploaded by Xbox and PlayStation. It is mostly visual, with no spoken dialogue.

End of Abyss costs $29.99 on every platform. PlayStation Plus members get 10% off, bringing the PS5 price to $26.99, until launch day. No other storefront discount has been announced.

Is there a demo before release?
No. There is no public demo of End of Abyss. Hands-on play has been limited to press at events such as Summer Game Fest 2025 and 2026, where previewers played sessions of around 30 minutes.

The Fortnite unlock is separate
The game unlocks at 12:00 UTC, but the Fortnite Cel Outfit follows a different schedule. It arrives on October 1 at 8 PM ET, which is 1 AM BST on October 2. That is when it lands in the lockers of Epic Games Store buyers and appears in the Fortnite Item Shop for 1,500 V-Bucks.

What you get on October 1
End of Abyss is a single-player, top-down twin-stick sci-fi horror game with Metroidvania progression. You play as Cel, a young combat technician sent into a mysterious underground compound to investigate disturbances of unknown origin. The store text describes a descent through a broken and abandoned world where nothing is fully human.
- Exploration: branching paths and hidden areas, uncovered with the Scanner and new tools.
- Combat: an infinite-ammo pulse pistol with a charged shot, a limited-ammo shotgun, grenades and flares.
- Progression: fragments spent at workbenches on ammo, gear and permanent upgrades, with no experience points.
- Save points: heal you and save progress, but respawn most enemies.

Who is releasing it
End of Abyss is the debut game from Section 9 Interactive, a studio of about nine developers in Malmö, Sweden. It was co-founded by three former Tarsier Studios leads who worked on Little Nightmares and Reanimal. Epic Games Publishing is the publisher.
The game is built in Unreal Engine, and the studio received an Epic MegaGrant. The Epic partnership is also why the PC version is sold only on the Epic Games Store. Read more on the developer page.
Getting ready for launch day
End of Abyss is small. The Xbox Series X|S version lists a maximum install size of about 5.98 GB, and the PC listing on Epic gives about 5.29 GB of SSD space. Even without a pre-load, the download should be quick on most connections.

Game8 notes that it has not been announced for Xbox Game Pass. It is a standard $29.99 purchase on the Xbox Store.
Could the date change?
