Exact weapon locations won't be known until the October 1, 2026 launch. From demos: you start with the pulse pistol and Scanner beside the first save point and workbench, the shotgun is picked up early, grenades and flares can be crafted at workbenches, and the explosive charge is unlocked later. To avoid missing items, scan every room; collected pickups get a checkmark on your map.
What is known before launch
Press demos covered the opening and one area, so only the earliest weapons have documented sources. Exact rooms, map coordinates and unlock conditions for the full game have not been published. This page lists what is confirmed and will add precise locations after launch.
| Weapon or tool | How you get it (demos) |
|---|---|
| Pulse pistol | Starting weapon |
| Scanner | Starting tool |
| Shotgun | Picked up early; ammo crafted at workbenches |
| Grenades | Available in the demo; craftable and refillable |
| Flares | Available in the demo; craftable and refillable |
| Explosive charge | Unlocked later in progression |
Pulse pistol and Scanner: the start
VDGMS described the opening clearly: you begin with a pistol and a Scanner, emerging from a save cube next to a craft bench. There is nothing to find; you have both from the first moment. The pistol's ammo is infinite, so it never needs refilling.
Shotgun: early in the game
The shotgun was the first secondary weapon previewers found, early in their sessions. Game Informer's previewer said they didn't get many weapons in the demo, mainly the shotgun, and used all its ammo. Its precise pickup spot in the final game is not documented.
Once you have it, extra shells can be crafted at workbenches using fragments, so you are not relying only on pickups.
Grenades and flares: craftable
GamingTrend confirmed that grenades and flares are craftable and refillable at workbenches, and that all equipment is crafted from fragments found while exploring. Where you first pick them up is not documented yet, but after that you can always make more.
Explosive charge: later
Shacknews says the C4-like device is unlocked later in progression. You need it to open weak walls, so the Scanner will have already shown you many places to use it by the time you get it. Game Informer's previewer had it in their demo and used it as a remote bomb.
More weapons to come
Game Informer's previewer believed there is an arsenal of weapons to unlock beyond what the demo showed. Martin Cid Magazine also lists melee tools. Where and how those are found will be added after launch.
How not to miss weapons and items
- Scan every room: the Scanner highlights lootable resources and hidden caches and adds them to your map.
- Check your map for unchecked icons; collected pickups get a checkmark.
- Scan walls in corners and dead ends for weak points hiding secret areas.
- Explore dark basement levels with your flashlight, where secrets are often tucked away.
- Return with new tools to places the map has tagged as blocked.
Level designer Robin Jonsson said he hides secrets in nooks and crannies, and that basement levels hold the most dangerous enemies. See all secrets.
Crafting vs finding
Most of the arsenal's ammunition does not depend on finding it in the world. Shotgun shells, grenades and flares can all be crafted at workbenches with fragments. That means missing a pickup is rarely a disaster.
New weapons are different: you have to find or unlock them. Scanning rooms and checking the map for unchecked icons is the most reliable way to make sure you don't walk past one.

Frequently asked questions
Can I miss the shotgun?
Previewers all found it early, and nothing suggests it is missable, but the final game's placement is not confirmed.
Where do I get more ammo?
Craft it at workbenches with fragments, or find it while exploring. The pistol never needs ammo.
Are weapon locations the same on every platform?
It is the same game on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so locations are expected to match.
